In the past few months I've been doing some testing with pop-unders using the largest pay-per-view network TrafficVance.com/.
They allow you to place 800 X 600 pixel pop-under pages that automatically appear as folks are browsing the web on sites related to your product or service.
And, so far, the results have been exciting. For one very high-end product, we're averaging only $6 per lead. To say the least, this is VERY good news.
So, in this blog post, I want to reveal how I've been doing it and how you can too.
Long story short, how it works is TrafficVance has a gigantic network of folks who have agreed to run their AdWare in exchange for access to their sites like GameVance.com/ (a free gaming site, where kids might sign-up, but adults use the same computer as well).
Then, you, as the advertiser, can tell TrafficVance when your pop-under should appear. For instance, you may offer a product on how to lose weight and then you'd have you ad appear every time somebody visited a weight loss site.
You also might have it appear every time somebody searched for the term "Weight loss."
See how this might be pretty powerful? Customers see your sales page at the moment they are looking for a solution.
Here are some keys I've used on the offers I've been running:
- Have a short video (around 1-2 minutes long). In one of the videos, all we did was have a simple image, got a professional voice-over, and had a short radio style message. The other ones were a little more professional (but, not much).
- Set the video to auto-play. This is important to capturing attention immediately. Most networks don't allow this and so this is a HUGE benefit TrafficVance offers.
- Have a strong call-to-action. Don't try to do too much here. Just get the lead, either by having them call-in or sign-up to an autoresponder for more information. Give the visitor a reason to act now.
- Have strong bullets to the right of the video that help sell the reader on taking action. Give benefits of what you're offering and recap the video.
- We also have headlines built into the header graphics above the video and copy. Keep your headline pithy. Again, you're just trying to get the lead and not sell everything.
The bottom-line is that this a great way to advertise beyond Google. With this said, all of the offers being advertised on TrafficVance are also being run on the Google network. So, a solid approach you might follow is to test with Google, find what works, and then you can play with CPV.
Alright, now it's your turn. Let me know what you think about this topic.
